Whose side are you on?

Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said,
Who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come to me.
And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.” Exodus 32:26

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

At the March 2013 WCN Ministry Expo; a lady from another booth came up to me and said, “You guys are on our side, right?” I answered, “The Constitution Party of Wisconsin means to do our duty on God’s side, and as I trust you think the same way.” I understand her concern, there are people who purport to be “on our side,” and yet they advocate opposing views. The Idol in the Break Room

Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold,
whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits:
he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.”-Daniel 3:1

On December 2, 2013 my company had their monthly safety meeting. We had a no incidence month, with only one near miss, and that meant that the Company would be handing out “incentives.” Those incentives, every month, consist of employee names being drawn by a raffle, and then those employees going up and spinning the wheel for a prize. This wheel stands in the break room, and is about 4 feet in diameter. In other words, if you have a safe month you get to gamble. Violations mean the loss of “incentives.” My name was drawn, and I told them, “You can pick someone else. I’m a Christian and I won’t gamble.” I’m certainly not Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, but God is still on His throne. Continue reading

Public Money for Public Purposes

And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise,
and perverteth the words of the righteous.” Exodus 23:18

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

Some people don’t understand the meaning of the term Republic, thinking it is interchangeable with Democracy. Some Greek words and Latin word convey the same meaning, for example the Greek word “agnostic,” is Greek for without knowledge, and the Latin word “ignoramus,” is Latin for without knowledge. The same cannot be said for the Greek word “Democracy,” which means rule of the people, and the Latin word, “Republic,” which means “Public thing.” So a Republic is a form of Civil Government, that is limited to do only those things that are truly public things. Do You Know Any Fascists?

The Prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor:
but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.” Proverbs 28:16

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

While there still is an American Nazi-Party, for the most part no one is giving a Roman salute or shouting “Heil Hitler.” We need to look past the regalia and examine the substance of what Fascism is. Fascism is defined as the Socialism of State Control. From my Webster’s II New Riverside University Dictionary, the first definition reads, “A Philosophy or governmental system marked by stringent socioeconomic control,…” Continue reading

Do You Know Any Commies?

Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Matthew 7:16

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

Most people will think, “What a ridiculous question.” “The Berlin Wall fell in 1989, and you are behind the times.” “I don’t see any red stars, and hammer and sickle symbols and red flags.” Once you get past the shock of that question, I will present to you some facts that don’t get much attention these days. There are still overtly Communist Nations, namely the People’s Republic of China, Vietnam, Laos, and Cuba. There are several that are Communist by policy, but not in name. Venezuela, Brazil and Zimbabwe readily come to mind. Continue reading

The Quartering Act, Today?

Wisdom is better than weapons of war:
but one sinner destroyeth much good.” Ecclesiastes 9:18

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

The Third Amendment to our US Constitution states, “No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner prescribed by law.” People today often stand in need of some historical background as to the meaning of this Amendment. During the colonial era, a British soldier could be quartered in any home at any time. For most of the colonial era, this royal prerogative was rarely used, however leading up to the American Revolution, it was used more and more, as soldiers were sent to the colonies for policing duties. Are There Limits to the Power of a Vote?

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice:
but when the wicked rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29:2

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

The vote is an advance over resorting to physical force to resolve political issues. The Democrat Party’s view is that the result of a popular vote is sovereign. We were founded as a Representative Republic, yet they say we are a Democracy now, and assert that direct democracy as the way to go. There are limits to the power of voting. Continue reading

A Rotten Egg

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it:
and have dominion over the fish of sea and over the fowl of the air,
and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” Genesis 1:28

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

Every several months I get sent a form letter from a group called Negative Population Growth. I have never signed up for such a letter, but somehow, because I oppose amnesty for illegal migrants, they think I am open to their ideas. Their form letters talk about the chaos at the borders, and other issues that are covered by more legitimate groups, but near the end of their newsletters, they allude to their agenda: Continue reading

My Commute

“Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in,
and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.” Deuteronomy 28:19

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

When I first got out of the Marines, I used to walk or take the bus. In 1990, at 25, I got a driver’s license, a little GEO Metro, and drove the 5 miles to Cudahy to my job. If the Metro broke down, I could still take the bus. I was getting 56 miles to the gallon, put in $10.00 worth of gas once a month, and never budgeted for gas. I drove around on chump change.   Continue reading

Raising the Minimum Wage: Costing You More to be Poor

“For ye have the poor with you always

and whensoever ye will ye may do them good:” Mark 14:7

By Riley J. Hood-CPoW State Chairman

Mr. Obama, by executive order has raised the minimum wage for all federal and federal contract workers to $10.10 per hour. On the surface, this looks like a wage increase, but when the civil government gives you a raise, two things usually happen: Continue reading
